Terminology

There are several common terms you will hear when you start sharing. Watch the video shown below, presented by Monique McLean (she already did it so well and was willing to share, so why reinvent the wheel?) for full explanations of these terms. For your convenience, we have provided them in text for you below.

Retail: an individual who enrolls (creates an account) with Young Living and purchases products at retail price instead of enrolling with a wholesale membership. Customers are not eligible for Essential Rewards and cannot participate in YL income opportunity.

Wholesale: an individual who enrolls in Young Living with a wholesale membership by purchasing a starter kit who can purchase YL products at a 24% discount, is eligible for Essential Rewards, and may participate in the YL income opportunity

Enroller: the person responsible for bringing a new member into Young Living. The enroller is eligible for Fast Start Bonuses.

Sponsor: a new member’s direct upline.  The sponsor provides members under them with direct support.  The sponsor may also be the enroller.

PV - Personal Volume: the total commissionable value of your personally placed orders in a month. This includes your Essential Rewards order, as well as any Quick Orders you may place. This is the commissionable value of a product. This amount does not always match the US currency value of the product (example, the cost of the Premium Starter Kit is $165, but the PV value is 100PV).

Legs: each personally sponsored member is considered a leg. Legs run down vertically. For a leg to be considered a “qualifying leg” the person at the top of the leg must have 100PV.

Levels:the position of a member within an organization.  Members who are directly sponsored by another member are considered the sponsoring member’s first level.  Levels run across horizontally.

OGV - Organizational Group Volume: (sometimes referred to as Overall Group Volume) the total volume (based on each individual person’s PV) that you plus all of the members (wholesale and customer) in your organization have collectively purchased for the month.

Unilevel Commission:the percentage of commission earned for each level based on your current rank. Members who order 100PV in any given month will be paid unilevel commission on any of their organization’s volume in that month. The depth on which unilevel commission is paid is based on the member’s current rank.

Compression:  When a member in your Downline fails to reach 100PV, their members up to the first qualifying member (first member with 100PV) roll up to be on the same level as the member who did not have 100PV.  This maximizes your unilevel commissions as it virtually gives you more level 1 members which earn higher commission rates and gives you the opportunity to have more qualifying legs for rank achievement.

PGV - Personal Group Volume: your volume plus the total volume of all members up to first member who ranks as Silver or above in each leg.  This means that any silvers or above and the members in their leg are excluded from the volume calculated for PGV.
